In recent decades, a special and new concept of the city called "global city" has become popular. Although thinkers and researchers have not presented the exact definition and criteria of the global city in a unanimous way, but they all agree that criteria such as information technology, communication, the ever-increasing expansion of cities, airplanes and high-speed trains, etc., increase the activity in cities and in As a result, the importance and role of some cities in the world have increased. The entry of huge economic-social energy into the cities due to globalization trends has faced the urban areas of the world with new challenges of social, cultural and economic changes and basic changes in various fields, especially the structural organization of urban functions. In this article, which was done with a descriptive-library method, an attempt has been made to describe the concept of a global city, to state some definitions and characteristics of such cities, and to examine their role in the process of globalization.
